Childhood Nutrition Day

About Chef & Child
In October 2000, the Tallahassee Area Chapter of the American Culinary Federation joined the effort founded four years earlier - bringing awareness to the problem of childhood hunger and poor nutrition in our country.

In 2009, we are raising awareness about the vital and timely issue of childhood nutrition.  We focus on not only the obesity issue facing out children but also the malnutrition and hunger.

The mission statement as defined by the National headquarters of the American Culinary Federation states our primary purpose is “To educate children and families in understanding proper nutrition through community-based initiatives led by the American Culinary Federation chef members, and to be the voice of the culinary industry in its fight against childhood hunger, malnutrition and obesity.”

This year we are inviting the young minds of the Imagine magnet school in Tallahassee, Florida.
